A. Scott Rood - Author

A. Scott Rood is a professor and former chair of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Grand Valley State University.

He managed commercial recreation facilities for over 20 years and has owned five café restaurants.

He served on the State of Michigan’s Carnival-Amusement Safety Board, was vice-president of a convention and visitor’s bureau, is a former council member for the City of Norton Shores, Michigan; is a former president of the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association, and received its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rood is editor-in-chief and co-founder of the Journal of Tourism Insights.

He is the Senior Editor of the 8th edition of “Introduction to Commercial Recreation and Tourism – An Entrepreneurial Approach.” This book is intended for introductory courses in park, recreation, tourism, and hospitality classes. It is also useful for those who aspire to be entrepreneurs in the commercial recreation field.
