Joseph J. Bannon - Author

Joseph J. Bannon (1931-2021) was publisher and CEO of Sagamore-Venture.

He held a PhD from the University of Illinois, where he served as head of the Department of Leisure Studies.

Prior to his academic career, Bannon served as director of recreation and parks in Leonia, New Jersey, and later as superintendent of recreation and parks in Topeka, Kansas.

He was a founding member of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and is professor emeritus at the University of Illinois.

Bannon served as chairman of the Joseph Lee Memorial Library and Archives Committee.

Bannon was also a founding member of the Academy of Leisure Sciences.

Bannon was also a veteran of the U.S. Army; he served 2 years' active duty during the Korean War.
