Lynn M. Jamieson - Author

Lynn M. Jamieson is a retired full professor in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies at Indiana University. She has served as both chair of the Department for 7 years and assistant chair for 6 years and is formerly coordinator and professor in the Recreation Administration Program at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

In addition to academic appointments, Dr. Jamieson has served in administrative capacities in three park and recreation departments: Corpus Christi, Texas; San Diego, California; and Johnson County, Kansas. She is coauthor of five texts and author of numerous articles and text chapters in the areas of recreational sports, commercial recreation, management, and tourism.

In the area of research and evaluation, Dr. Jamieson has emphasized management, curriculum development in recreational sports, sport violence, visitor behavior, and youth development as it pertains to causal factors and outcomes. She has delivered over 70 articles and 90 presentations in her areas of expertise. She is a Certified Recreational Sports Specialist (CRSS), a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), and a member of several professional organizations that represent various aspects of the leisure industry.

More recently, she has conducted lectures and research presentations in China, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Taiwan, Scotland, Turkey, England, Canada, Tanzania, the United States, and Australia on the topics of sport curriculum, sport and leisure policy, sport and leisure management, and epidemiological factors in violence that occurs in sport, tourism, and leisure settings. Since 1986, Dr. Jamieson has been co-owner of the consulting firm Visions, a leisure and tourism planning company.
