Matthew Walker - Author

Matthew Walker is a distinguished scholar and professional consultant whose research is focused on social responsibility, environmental management, the social impact of sport, and brand communities.

Since receiving his PhD from Florida State University, Walker has held academic appointments at the University of Florida, East Carolina University, University of Southern Mississippi, and Texas A&M University.

To date, Walker has published 36 peer-reviewed articles, secured 12 funded grants and contracts, and has over 70 peer-reviewed (or invited) academic presentations.

His research can be found in academic outlets including the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Sport Management, Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Management Decision, Sport Marketing Quarterly, European Sport Management Quarterly, Sport Management Review, Journal of Festival and Event Management, Journal of Non-Profit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and International Journal of Sport Finance.

Walker is a research fellow for the North American Society for Sport Management and for the Research Consortium of the American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

In addition to his work with the Journal of Applied Sport Management, he also serves on the editorial boards for Sport Marketing Quarterly and the Journal of Contemporary Athletics.
