Michael J. and Sara F. Leitner - Author

Michael J. Leitner is a professor in the Department of Recreation and Parks Management at California State University, Chico.

Sara F. Leitner is an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Chico.

They are coauthors of the textbook Leisure in Later Life (4th ed.), and How to Improve Your Life Through Leisure.

They are also the authors of many published articles, primarily on the topic of recreation and aging.

Michael is also active in research on recreational coexistence programs in Israel with Jewish and Arab Israelis and Palestinians and Israelis.

Michael received MA and PhD degrees in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Maryland.

Sara received an MA degree in physical education from California State University, Chico.
