Scott Payne - Author
Scott Payne is the superintendent of recreation for the Raleigh, North Carolina, Department of Parks and Recreation and a PhD candidate in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University.
He earned his BS and MS degrees from North Carolina State University. Payne's professional experience includes serving as director of the North Carolina Recreation Resource Services, as state-wide technical assistance program for park and recreation providers, and as Director of Academic and Information Technology for the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina state University.
He also served as an extension associate with the Extension Forestry program at North Carolina State University. He serves as the assistant director of the Maintenance Management School conducted by North Carolina State University at Oglebay Resort Park.
Payne is a member of the National Recreation and Park Association.
He is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector with the National Playground Safety Institute and an adjunct instructor with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University.
He received the Distinguished Performance Award from the College of Forest Resources at North Carolina State University.
