T. Scott Lyons - Author

Dr. Scott Lyons is in his second year at the University of North Alabama, after spending 17 years at Western Kentucky University. At UNA, he is a Professor of Exercise Science, and he serves as Graduate Program Coordinator for the Department of Kinesiology. At WKU, he served as Associate Dean for Research of the College of Health and Human Services, Director of the School of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport, and Dean of the Graduate School.

Dr. Lyons went to college at The University of Alabama, where he earned a BA in history with minors in English and psychology and an MA and PhD in exercise physiology. Dr. Lyons’ research interests are primarily focused on cardiovascular physiology, post-exercise metabolism, and environmental physiology.

In 2007, Dr. Lyons founded, along with Dr. James Navalta of the University of Nevada–Las Vegas, the International Journal of Exercise Science (IJES). IJES is an international, open access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of student-led research. The journal is now in its 15th year of publication, and recently surpassed two significant milestones: over one million downloads worldwide and over one thousand papers published.
