Wayne M. Pollock - Author

Wayne Pollock is an associate professor at Virginia Wesleyan University, having moved into academia in 2000 after a 15+ year career working as a CTRS in various health care settings.

Wayne received his BS from West Chester University, his MS from the University of North Carolina, and his PhD from Old Dominion University.

Pollock's passion for helping improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities is exemplified in his work as a recreational therapist working with adults with intellectual disabilities and both adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse problems.

His current research interests involve measuring functional outcomes of individuals with dementia using a technology-based intervention, evidence-based practices, and promoting the ethical practice of recreational therapy.

Pollock remains professionally engaged, serving on the Southeast Recreational Therapy Symposium and National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board of Directors and was honored to be inducted as a fellow into the National Academy of Recreational Therapists in 2014.
