Leisure Education Program Planning A Systematic and Balanced Approach Based on Social Justice 6th Edition eBook
Book Description:
Leisure Education Program Planning contains information to help readers develop a sense of competence in providing balanced and systematic leisure education services occurring within the context of social justice. The book provides a sequential explanation describing how to transform a service model into a guide for planning, implementing, and evaluating leisure education. As participants grow through leisure education, they become empowered to experience leisure, be happy, and, ultimately, flourish.
Innovation of 2026 Version:
This sixth edition of Leisure Education Program Planning extends information presented in previous editions by more thoroughly describing ways leisure education connects to social justice. The new edition contains a revised service model that graphically identifies the role of social justice in leisure education: acknowledging the importance of social inclusion, ecological approaches, indigenous perspectives, post-colonialism, and the example of Ubuntu. An additional revision to the service model is identification of leisure constraints and the value of negotiating these constraints - approaching them as opportunities and identifying possibilities. The reorganized edition provides a clearer depiction of the service model presenting a step-by-step (chapter-by-chapter) process to provide leisure education. Different from previous editions, this book begins with a presentation of tenets of leisure education, followed by an elaboration of model characteristics, next it highlights the systematic approach to service delivery, and then identifies relevant research and resources. As with previous editions, the book concludes with six examples of leisure education programs. In addition to reorganizing the book, we have closely reviewed and revised the entire book to make it more concise and understandable.
