Ming-kai Chin - Author

Ming-kai Chin received his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1985 and was the head of Sports Science at the Hong Kong Sports Institute from 1987-1995.

He was also the former head (1998-2000) of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science at the Hong Kong Institute of Education from 1995-2005 and was a professor in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Leisure Services (HPELS) at the University of Northern Iowa.

Chin is the vice president of Global Affairs and Research for HOPSports.

His research interests lie in the fields of human performance, physical activity, health and fitness, IT, and problem-based learning in teaching and learning.

An editor of seven books and author of over 160 publications in scientific and sports journals in English and Chinese, Chin has given over 110 keynote and invited presentations and over 80 paper presentations in North America, South America, South Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia Pacific Region.

He was the recipient of the first Wild and White Visiting Scholar Award (2002-2003) at the University of Northern Iowa; fellow of AIESEP and Research Consortium of AAHPERD and one of the four founding members; former president (2005-2008) and secretary general (2009-2011) of the Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS); editor-in-chief of the Asian Journal of Exercise and Sports Science (AJESS), member of the Board of Directors of the Conference/Event Manager of World Leisure Organization; and the former course director of Sports Science, Hong Kong Olympic Academy, Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong-China.
