The purpose of Recreational Therapy for Older Adults, second edition, is to provide a comprehensive textbook for teaching an undergraduate or graduate course in recreational therapy or therapeutic recreation for older adults. This textbook provides unique information on evidence-based practices for older adults not covered in other texts. It connects students to  health and human service competencies in the field of geriatrics, gerontology, and interprofessional practice.  Recreational Therapy for Older Adults, second edition, will be key to preparing a workforce that is qualified to provide services to an aging world. Moreover, the approximately 30% of the CTRS™s who work with older adults will want to purchase this book for their professional libraries.  Updates in the second edition include: 1) an emphasis on the ATRA competencies study (Porter et al., 2019) related to RTs who work with older adults 2) a chapter focusing on the implications of COVID-19 and preparedness for the next pandemic. 3) Based on changes in the field, substantial updates were made to the chapters on Assessment and Interventions.
